Comparisons of the Linguistic Heritage of Arabic and English

Overview

There is currently a growing interest in the English language among Arabic speakers, and vice versa. This interest has roots in our shared heritage, historical connections and, of course, the languages themselves.

For those interested in Arabic heritage, there is an interesting phenomenon; archaic foreign words in Arabic texts, which were then absorbed into the English language. Why do these words appear in their original pronunciation? How did these 'intruders' find their way into Arabic and English?

Join us for a captivating lecture on comparisons between Arabic and English. Dr. Ahmed Al-Janabi, a renowned linguist with a PhD in the Philosophy of Arabic Language and Literature, will guide us through this exploration of connections using the lens of comparative linguistics.
