Overview

Applications open for first edition of award, offering one-month Granada residency to exceptional Arabic writers

The Radwa Ashour Award for Arabic Literature – launched by Qatar Foundation and the University of Granada – grants a one-month residency in the city of Granada to two exceptional Arabic writers each year.

Honoring the legacy of iconic Egyptian novelist, writer, literary critic, and professor Radwa Ashour, the award will see a panel of her circle of authors, critic, and literary scholars oversee the selection of recipients based on the merit of applicants’ literary work and the promise of their proposed writing projects.

Recipients of the Award will be based in Granada for their residency and enjoy uninterrupted time for writing, research, and creative development, as well as opportunities to engage with local cultural and literary communities.

Applications for the first edition of the Award are now being welcomed, with the submission period closing on 30 June 2025.
