Herfah at Al Khater House Year-Long Program

Overview

The Herfah Program is focused on reviving and promoting traditional crafts deeply rooted in Qatari and Islamic culture. Held at Al Khater House, the program is delivered in collaboration with The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, renowned for its excellence in teaching and preserving heritage crafts.

This year-long immersive experience runs from September 2026 to May 2027, with classes held from Sunday to Thursday, 9am–2pm.

The program is divided into three full-time terms:

• Term 1 (September to December, 14 weeks): 6 weeks of Foundational Modules covering Geometry, Drawing, Biomorphic Design, and Natural Pigments and Dyes, followed by 8 weeks of Craft Modules in Ceramics, Decorative Painting, Textiles, and Gypsum Carving.

• Term 2 (January to February, 8 weeks): 2 weeks of additional Foundational Modules, followed by 6 weeks of Craft Modules such as Ceramics, Woodwork, Textiles, Gypsum Carving, and Decorative Painting.

• Term 3 (March to May, 9 weeks): Dedicated to final projects that bring together all the skills and knowledge gained throughout the year.

How to Apply:
To apply for the program, please complete the online registration form. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio showcasing their creative work and a personal statement outlining their interest in the program and providing relevant background information.

Once the application is submitted, the Herfah team will review all materials and contact shortlisted candidates for an interview. Successful applicants will be notified and offered a place in the program, along with details on the next steps.

Program Fee:
The program fee is QAR 15,000. To support wider access, flexible payment options are available, including monthly installments and a full scholarship (subject to approval).
